Fellow GU owners,

Anyone experienced their manual GU's jumping out of gear? Mine will jump out of second gear and after the weekends trip to Wonangatta is now even worse. You can be driving downhill or crossing a river and it jumps out! Bit dangerous. Also at times you go to take off in L4 2nd and it just keeps jumping out so you hold it till you take off. 12500kms on the clock so its still brand new.

Geez young fella, you're a brave man announcing that sort of problem on the shiney white beast here. Just watch all the 3.0litre Patrol vultures fly in for the feeding frenzy now. I would have snuck into your closest Nissan dealer under the cover of darkness and just got it fixed under warranty.

No guts no glory lol. I have already got the ball rolling with the Nissan dealer. I rang a few dealers and they haven't come across the prob and I haven't heard of it at all myself. Prob a faulty detent spring.

Wombat,

I don't recall Leroy mentioning the car as a 3.0L.

Squizzy,

He also didn't mention that it was white and shiney . . . or that he was a strapping young fella - maybe I'm just clairvoyant?

Leroy,

My GU 4.2 Ute has not doing anything wrong, and nor has my mates one, which is about 2 years old.

Definetely not right, could just be a bent selector fork, not meshing the gears fully.

Done any big towing lately, hardcore offroading, gear crunching, creek crossings?

All of the above but it has done it from day one. Just got really bad over the weekend. Makes it easier now for Nissan to trouble shoot. Nothing worse than taking your vehicle in and them saying they couldn't find the prob!
