Hi guys,
Just went to Mt. Dis on Mel. cup day. It was my first time visiting there.
Shocking! ........ SSSoooo many tracks has been closed permanently. Anyone know the reason? Instead, some of the track (a nasty track behine camping ground) which should be closed still wide open and a Hilux was a real victim.

I was pretty disappointed (i should expect at this area, ie. Mt. Disappointment) until I reach to that camping ground at 2pm. A guy yell at us and ask us for rescue a 40 series and a brand new hilux which has been bogged seriously.
My friend pull that 40 out but the hilux was further in the track and definitely need winching. So I went in from the other end of that track........WOWOW....what a drive.......can't believe my car has no locker can eat up the track so easily......
anyway, finally pull the hilux out.....but need to attach a strap behine my back and i pull him most of the way out.........
Somehow, seems I got too excited and took a wrong path.....BIG SPLASH.....what I can see is my front half of my bonnet was completely submerged in the mud water........ water flushing in and I can't see my pedal anymore......... but luckily I had a snorkel installed few months ago. I also glad that I connect the snorkel to main air filter box in one piece with silicone any possible joint...... now I can tell it is real water tight....... WHAT A FEELING......Diesel engine never miss a bit even at such harsh condition....... so finally a rescuer become rescued ......
We got out safely........ but seems the clutch was playing up.......it slipped seriously.....got home and unplug the thing at the bottm of clutch housing.....bleep...drained about 2 litre of muddy water out of it.....they smell like burnt something......

Question time: Does it cause any damange on the clutch if water was inside? What should I do to clean it ?......or just leave it until I change clutch next time ? ......

Thanks for your time reading this long thread.

should drain out naturally or use a drain plug if fitted should dry out and turn to dust .

there have been some big closures up there since last year.

I think I did the ladder......not too sure.....cos can't see any sign post.....just a sections which would be very nasty when in wet....very wide section with 10+ ruts to choose from..........

Just look up the map.....the picinc ground called "Anderson garden picnic ground".........i think the track was not shown on map........
Did you try this tk last time ?

Toonie I guess it depend on what Kelvin describes as "Behind" Anderson's.
The Ladder and Pipeline are to steep to have bog holes with such depth of water so it must have been a flatter lying track.

Kelvin Mt Disso is a great spot, but you do need to be careful in any of our local forest areas after a big wet, they turn from easy / moderate type tracks to ones that swallow 4wd's whole, as you found out.

You sure of the permanent track closure situation, Maybe they elected to not open a lot of them on the 28th October due to the amount of rain.
Once they dry out they may re open them.
