hi,
has anyone had any experience with puttin a new v8 landcruiser on gas? There doesnt seem to be much information out there on it. The cruiser has about 150,000km on the clock. Any help would be appreciated
Regards
Steve

No, but my son had to put gas onto his Hilux that he fitted the imported ex Corvette motor into, to meet emission regulations. At first he was told it had to run totally on gas - but eventually common sense prevailed and he was allowed to use dual fuel. He had the gas conversion, with two gas tanks, fitted by a gas fitter, but getting the computerised stuff to work it all together properly was another story. I hope you weren't planning to fit it yourself (unless you are a licensed gas fitter). Regulations with gas are very strict here in WA for good reason. If not, if you use an experienced tradesperson, he should have all the info. Good luck with your project.

Steve,
Most motors will run happily on LPG. Apparently the problem a few years ago had to do with the valve seats needing extra lubrication (and therefore modification) as LPG is a drier fuel than petrol. Modified heads, with harder valve seats, were the solution.
I would suggest checking with a LPG fitter AND Toyota so as not to get an ill-informed view either way.
Will be
well worth the effort as it will save you a bomb in fuel.
I'm no engineer, just going off memory. Check with the experts.
Good luck with your projects.
Jim.

Hi Steve
All I know is that a mate was going to buy a new 2004 v8 cruiser this year and backed out when he found out the 2004 models cant be fitted with gas, not sure on the earlier model.
