Hi There,
Just wandering if anybody out there can offer me some advice.
I am looking into buying a 60 series Landcruiser to take round Oz in 2006.
We are currently looking at one in tip top condition, after market turbo has been on since near new, everything seems to be good, runs smooth, no oil leaks, everything quiet, gear box and transfer case change at 250k, the problem is it has 330k. I'm not sure what to do or if to take this in to consideration because it runs like it has 150k to 200k on it. Do Ks matter is the question and should i be worried that it has this manys ks, The guy was very genuine and owned since brand new, never taken off road (it seems like to good to be true).
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

hi kriso
if you want a piece of mind ask if you can take it to have engine checked out on a dyno as such.
but if its not blowing smoke and sound ok then it could
well be.
im the 3rd owner of my 60 series and i bought of my mate who looked after it as soon a a seal leaked it was straight into the
shop for repair, and he changed the oil every 5000.
i had the turbo checked in feb and the report was A1.
so i would pay the 100 bucks and have it checked at one of those performance workshops where they can put it on the rolling road and check it out.
hope this helps

The motor is good for about 400k if serviced properly . The gear box and trannie die and leak often . Look around and poull the filling plugs out if oil pours out of the gearbox and the transfer case is low you blown a seal. For the short term you can drop and overflow line in so the oil drains down from te gearbox back to the transfer case.
The biggest thing with the 60 series is rust!!!! if it has no rust and a good paint job you get at least 12-18 months out of it before the cancer pokes it head up again.
Why not buy a jap import 60 series ....all the bells and whistles for about 14k in
brisbane ATM.

Gday kriso,
l bought our 60 in 2001 for 4 grand , spent 2500 on parts , im a mechanic so labor no $ , did suspention g box bearing & clutch greased oiled & repacked everything that moved , extractors , l did so much fiddling and setting up ive forgotten most of it .
Loaded up the wife and 3 kids and filled the 60 with so much stuff inc roof rack even the misses was impressed and drove to
Broome up the Tanami road from vic.
Kms is 295 and put 10 on this trip with the only problem a rs
water pump 60 k south of alice.
stuck it in the shed going back next year.
l dont think kms are a problem if your vehical is mechanically sound although reco/replace things like
water pump alt starter etc (clutch?) is cheaper at home than on your trip .
Regards Mitch
