Hey all,
As alot of you know i have been lookin for lc 80-100 and havn`t had much joy in finding a decent one at a reasonable price.
Anyways my work ute is dying a slow painfull death at the moment,so istead of buying a new ute and a lc (joint value of about 70k) i have been thinking one truck to do both jobs.
Has anyone on the site got one? or know any detail about them?
Havent found much on the net about them and it is a big investment,so any help would be great.

Thanks
Stu

I was looking forward to driving the f 350 at my new job but it is in the workshop for what sounds like a majour desighn flaw. As it was described to me the heat from the turbo melted the clutch lines (plastic?) so I would say beware of typical american engineering

Our business has two XLT dual cab V8 diesel automatics. I have posted about them on here before.

We have found various flaws with them. We are having a lot of trouble getting wheel alignments at the moment. One of them has worn out the inside edge of its front tyres since its last wheel alignment (so less than 7500km). We checked the other ute and it has same problem. Have been told it is very common and the wheel alignments are hard to do and they tend to 'unalign' themselves quickly.

Brake switches have died on both of them. So one was stuck in Park in a not so nice location and the other was stuck out of Park which meant you couldn't remove the keys.

They are very susceptible to algae in the diesel.

Excellent on the beach and good on rutted tracks so long as there are no trees in a 50 metre radius.

The interior is very plasticy and cheap looking.

Have heard of the automatic transmissions failing but we have had no issues.

Suspension lift is apparently $800 per corner.

Very big and roomy with a big tray.

Dual cabs and Super cabs are a PITA in shopping centres but it can be done.

Can't think of anything else at the moment but we have had quite a few problems.

If you want to know anything specific just ask.

If you want a 4x4 to do the tough stuff like playing in Landcruiser Park or any of those places then don't buy one. Single cabs can do some tracks as they are shorter but expect a lot of panel damage.

Hi Stu,

We're waiting for the six litre version which has just been launched in the U S of A to make it here in 2006 before we bite the bullet. This seems to be a much better engineered vehicle than the current Australian model. You can go to 2004 F250 specifications if you want all the good news.

The U.S. has had the 6 litre V8 for quite a while now. 4x4 Australia did a small write up on the new Aussie F250 which is supposed to have the 6 litre but I can't seem to find it. It was about 6-8 months ago. However I think it said it was due for release about 2006. Not too sure.

I would hope it's better than the current one but it will still have that dodgy American car quality. Just do a search for those U.S. websites that do product reviews. They seem to be crap over there too.

I wouldn't waste my money.

Just looking at the site you posted and the 6 litre has 570nm @ 2000rpm while the 7.3 litre has 684nm @ 1800rpm.

7.3 litre has 175kw @ 2600rpm. Don't know about the 6 litre.

Unless they are rated differently then that is a bit of a drop.

New one has coil front too. I have found the current leaf all round to wallow around a bit. Don't know what difference the coils would make. It needs to be stiffer IMHO.

I did a search and it returned nothing ! Doesn`t seem like they have a big following.
I was thinking the 6lt was here in 05 not 06!!,are you sure ? I to have heard that they are meant to be alot better truck with a differnt front end to but thats about all i have found on them.
The yanks are saying there is no problem with front ends if you rotate the tires every 6k.
