I can't seem to find the recent post doing a search, due to time constraints, somebody requesting data on 3.0 patrol engines, their year of manufacture, good or bad engines.
A bit late but my experiences are that have come through my work
shop
Bad ones
5/00 model with oil capacity modification done in 10/00 85 196 km KaBoom.
3/01 model 94 000 km KaBoom.
Good ones
10/00 model 104002 km and still going fine.
10/01 model 112 297 km and still going fine.
FYI

I've got an 0500 model with 160000k's and so far so good. What are the signs,if any, of the oil failure problem that some people have encountered?

Ensure your sump holds at least 8.5 litres of oil.
Look for excessive oil inside intercooler.
Other than that you have probably got a good one but no one knows how long they are going to last.
