I have just started getting a problem wherin my
forum main page doesn't load the buttons enabling viewing thread or posting a message.
We have two computers networked in the home, one of which works fine, so I know the problem is in the other one.
When the page is loading, a red 'X' appears momentarily where the button should be then goes blank.
I have tried to right click on the 'X' to 'show picture' but this won't work.
I did a 'System Restore' to an earlier time where it was working, also to no avail.
BTW this is the only site that has this problem.
HELP.
Regards
Neil

Thanks for your reply but no, networking is not the problem as the computers have been networked for about 3 years and this is the only
forum where the problem manifests itself.
To be able to read the threads, I've now resorted to copy/pasting the link to the thread from the other computer.
I've just noticed also that the "post follow-up" link in each message and the "post reply, abbreviations, back to forum" links at the bottom of the page are missing also.

Sounds like you may have a bad copy of the buttons in the cache on your PC. In Internet Explorer, click on Tools > Internet Options, and on the General tab click "Delete Files". Then exit Internet Explorer & restart it. Might help....

mine is with this puter (work) on the campertrailers web site the
forum is OK but when i go to campertrailer web site the address bar at the top wont come up so i can't go anywhere but the main page, but this is only at work i have been told it's a graphics thing and firewall not allowing certain things to appear, have you altered anything recently or installed anything on this puter your on.

Deleted the files and restarted but no go, I still have the problem :( it was worth a try tho'.
Also, tried restoring back to a week ago (no help).
Tried deleting the link from my Favourites folder and navigated to the
forum from the Exploroz home page but that didn't work either.
The computer is 4 months old and I'm positive it's not the graphics card/firewall as the problem is only on this
forum.
It's got me stuffed.

I'm going to post a link of campertrailers web page tell me what you see
www.campertrailers.org
what i see is up the top is nothing just two
grey lines at home there are buttons to go to other things there.
Basicly this is your prob only with EO, try going down the bottom of the page to feedback click on that and ask David he might be able to help.
Baz.

How does Homer do it.....D'OH
the penny has dropped, out of the
grey foggy mist of my brain I just remembered using my Adshield program to block an annoying ad. It seems that this is what has caused my problem. I went into the block list, deleted the offending line and , lo, my buttons are back. HOORAY.
I wonder if maybe you have something like this Baz. I went to the camptrailers site and I seem to get the full page, links etc.
Thanks muchly for your time & help.
Thanks also T Bone, deleting those files as you suggested seems to have speeded up my web pages loading, with the exception of this site though, but that is another problem. :-)
Now I can go browse the threads I have not been able to see....hoo-roo

Neil

2004 has been noted for no end of trouble with my laptop. Problems with EO, modem problems, MS Word problems, My Documents problems, Oziexplorer problems, perosnal website problems, Outlook Express problems, ISP problems.
Although having played with puters for nigh on 10 years I was none the wiser of what to do. No one could give me sound advice as I struggled on a daily basis getting bloody frustrated with this infernal machine.
Then it came to me in a flash. I Uninstalled everything and anything to do with Norton Antivirus 2004, Norton Utilities and anything with the Norton name attached to it and VOILA! ..........no more troubles. Computer running smoothly. EO main page displayed properly and other page defects corrected. No more ISP or other problems.
I have since bought VET antivirus and things seem to be going OK although I am now of the opinion that these antivirus programs are programmed to interfere with your computer systems. I might even give VET the flick and go it alone.

Hi Willem
Like you, we got sick of norton & all its built in problems so we un-installed it and went with this freeware antivirus software which beats norton hands down.

Thats your opinion!!! But a risk taker I am because life is a risk and if you do not take risks you stagnate in your own misery.
I have been thinking of having one computer only with no data on it to use for the internet. I then transfer anything I would like to keep to my other computer via my network cable. Should I have a serious crash caused by myself or a virus I can format my Hard Drive and start again without any loss.
Basically most viruses are coming in by email unless you download something from the net with a virus attached. All your antivirus protection is telling you is that there is a virus attached to whatever email. I delete anything suspicious before it gets in to my computer.

Thanks for that. I will have a look at it. My experience however is that when I started on the internet I bought a new system from a local computer man who introduced me(unbeknownst to me) to share ware and freeware stuff. It was a steep learning curve and I had endless issues getting my head around the workings of the programs and their failings. Frankly I do not trust any of it.
