I have a 78 series troopy in need of a new large rear door (the current one is beyond repair), the 75 series door is far cheaper. i know the 75 series don't have the windscreen wiper, but i was wondering if there is any other differences? especialy curious about the hinge mounts etc.

Make sure the cheaper one has all the reinforcing inside it to take the spare tyre bracket.
AFAIK the hinges are the same but the latch/bump mounts appeared to be different.

Good grief! Where are Britz hiding? We have a windscreen wiper on our 78 series, and it got used most in the outback, where we spent weeks wading through the mud!
In answer to the original question - I don't know about the differences. BUT in order to make the next door last a bit longer you should consider getting proper wheel carriers which don't hang off the door. We were advised that our rear doors wouldn't remain tight for long over outback roads as they are not really designed to carry the weight of the tyre. We have had very little problem with dust getting in, and the dual wheelcarrier also serves to protect the back windows and doors from stone damage.
Gratuitous advice probably, but I hope it helps.
Cheers
Anni

In my 75 series I have a curtain on the rear door, the glass is tinted & the door has the spare tyre on it. Together with all the gear in the back, who can see out of the rear doors?? What good is a rear wiper???

One possible problem of fit a door without the wiper is meeting roadworthy and ADR standards. If the vehicle has it from factory it must have it and be operational at resale or if you are unlucky enough to be caught at roadside inspection.Another option for a door is the bundera is the same and has wiper and spare wheel mounts. Some retailers will list different prices for different models even when they are the same part.My uncle was caught out on this with his troopy rear glass.
shop around.

i did try the bundera option, apparently the glass section of the door doesn't go up high enough. i ended up buying the 75 for $430 off ebay, a panel beater is going to fit the wiper parts, the price is included in the other panel work done. if the latches don't line up, i guess i'll just put it back in ebay.
i don't intend to keep the vehicle long (short attention span) so a dual rear wheel carrier bar is an expensive short term enjoyment.
i'll let you know how i go. thanks for all the responses
