Just an update on the fitting of my Denco turbo kit.
No exhaust studs broke (bonus).
Everything bolted up fine, very close on clearances in some parts mainly the turbo housing to the air filter.
Only drama was the damn exhaust. What a handfull to get right. I know the 80 series doesn't give alot of room to play with anyway so only one pipe has to not quite have the right bend and your in strife. I only had to heat it in one spot and bend it.
Time to complete - started Thursday 11.00am and finished Friday 2.00pm. Only working business hours and doing some retail jobs in between.
I would not hesitate for others who aren't mechanics to attempt the fitment and save some money so long as you have a bit of knowledge and the time, go for it. Its booked in for the fuel to be adjusted properly on Monday as I have already had the injectors overhauled, the pump seals done etc.
I fully recommend to take the sump off and braise the oil drain into it properly as I did. I have seen some shonky fitments come through the workshop where they have drilled a hole in the side of the sump and just screwed a fitting in, not recommended.
In answer to somebodies question about the make of turbo, it has Denco's name on the housing but I think it is a schwitzer.
All in all I am very happy with the quality of the kit, the fitment of the kit and the service from Denco. (No affiliation)
Highly recommend for people to go for it if you are considering the fitment of a turbo.
Cheers for now
