Went to west beach this morning for alook around, not alot there, but it was free.
It was very windy down there and I was curious how the various campers hold up in the wind.
Well I asked a couple of them if they would be doing some erection demos. The answer was no, its too difficult in the wind. If its too hard for them how hard would it be for someone else who purchased one, it does get windy sometimes on camping trips.
There is one mob down there giving away a motor boke with every camper trailer sold. It must be a very competetive game.

That is an interesting observation.........

When I was a child in Scouts, Skip used to make us put up & pull down our troop tents ad nauseam, could never understand why................ until now.

I have a small Microfast MI 4 Camo Tent, and the first thing I did was PRACTICE!!!

I used to go down to my sister at Mclaren Flat, and erect & stow this thing in pitch black darkness, with howling winds, using nothing but the LED headlamp. Ya gotta have patience, and treat it as a game, but then once you've got it all figured out, not much can faze you as far as weather is concerned.

I followed the S A sled dog races for a complete season here a couple of winters ago, and up at the forest, I had to pitch my tent under very trying circumstances, I spent the night in it when it was almost laying more flat across my face than upright, because of the incessant wind & rain. Slept well, & stayed dry.

Some people come up there with camp trailers, and really struggled...........

Cheers

Hi Dean,

Just got back from the show myself. Spent a great morning with Brew696969 and Dawn.

Yeah it was pretty windy but there were a couple of them that were happy to demo the set up. Most of the tents and campers seemed to be holding up in the wind OK.

Saw the Kimberley going up and down - looked sooooo easy.

Had a long chat with Cavalier Campers and they were only too happy to put a camper up and down to show us. Wind was not an issue at all.

Spent a while at the Hall's Canvas products display and bought a couple of bags. They were having real problems with the wind but they did seem to have just about the most exposed spot.

Not a bad show overall but nowhere near as big as the Wayyville version.

Good way to waste a saturday morning!

Cheers
