which way to go have disco 1999 s mark1 trading up to diesel but love both nissan 3l st and pajero exceed please advise which way to go - i tow a pop top 17 windsor royal regerds peter

Assuming both can legally handle the GVM and ball weight of the van, then it depends if you'd prefer a roomier vehicle with more offroad ability, or the extra comfort of 4 wheel independent
suspension.
The other thing to consider is resale value, unless you intending keeping it until it dies.

The Pajero has more power and torque (121 v. 116 kW, 373 v. 354 Nm). On that basis alone I would choose the Pajero. But I think the clincher would be the sequential auto transmission.
I doubt that ultimate offroad ability is of any relevance to 99.99% of 4 WD vehicle owners, especially with a trailer behind!
Having said that, probably any of the current crop of turbo diesels would do the job easily (even the Benz).
