QLD, your stuffed to be honest. Very difficult to get lift engineered then approved by insurer. My insurer will look after me up to 4 inch lift, but if that is illegal in QLD (which it is), the won't insure me. Also illegal to extend bumpstops etc.
In different states, ask someone from there. Pretty much transport rules no matter what.

I would just give them a ring and ask. If they do let you do it, make sure it is written on to your policy, because if you don't and you have a prang and they see its been modified they won't want to know you. They love taking our money, however they will find any excuse not to make a payout.

I would say the chances of GIO agreeing to that would be close enough to zero . . .
Anyway . . . its not really the insurance co , that you need to worry about . . . You need it roadworthy to start with.
Once its roadworthy , it will require a ring around to see who will cover it.

DGA (australian 4wd Insurance) 1800800471.
I have a 1996 80 series cut to dual cab, 3'
suspension lift, 2' body lift, mega extras and they didn't hesitate. NRMA no chance

Thanks mate,
I just spoke to GIO and thay said if it is RTA approved it is ok, so does this mean if i have an engineers report it will be RTA approved.

Yes.
Although an engineers report is NOT the be all and end all. The RTA can still question the ER , and can ask you to have it re-engineered if they aren't satisified with the mods.

Hey Brent,
Just a word of warning is to make sure the advice you have is very current as there have been a lot of legislative changes over recent times, and some things you may have been able to do say 12 months ago are no longer allowed.
You don't want to put a lot of money and effort into soemthing that the authorities are going to bust you over.
Cheers

Brent,
It seems to me that the RTA is the place to be making your enquiries. What is the use of having an engineers report saying it is OK and the RTA engineers saying that Regulation XYZ prohibits that being done, and them not accepting the ER.

Tourboy has the right answer...... Go to DGA (4wd Insurance Aust. ) their in victoria but are very good and will insure your Vehicle regardless of mods, as long as you tell then what they are. I've been with them for 4 years and 2 vehicles, a good mob to do business with.
regards jeff

Have you had to make any claims with them Jeff? If so, what was/is the service like?
T-Bone.
