Hi all,
I've been looking at the Jaycar web site and noticed that they have a new digital speedo corrector kit.
Click here to check it out
It allows you to vary the speedo signal upto 99%, to allow for gearing changes or tyre circumference changes.
It only works with electronic speedos, which would be most newer vehicles anyway.
So if you have bigger tyres, and you are handy with a soldering iron, then it could be good value at approx $45.

I guess the 2000 like yours would be. Easy way to tell is to see if there is a speedo drive cable going from somewhere on the gearbox, through the firewall and to the back of the instrument panel.
I'd be fairly certain though that the Frontera would be electronic.

My 1997 Rodeo with 2.6 litre engine is electronic. I would be very surprised if the Frontera was not.
I'll be onto these when they arrive.
If you have an ABN then try Electus Distribution. They are the same as Jaycar but mail order and wholesale prices.

Yep ... Frontera is electronic.
Looking at the wiring diagrams I have, the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) is at the rear of the transmission and should have 3 wires coming out of it. The yellow one is the power to the sensor, black goes to ground and the black/blue wire seems to be the signal wire to the speedo.
The Jackaroo is a bit different and more complex. The VSS is said to be on the transfer case and there's 2 wires that run up to the dash, a light green/white and a black/red. Not sure which is the signal wire. The blue/yellow is the power supply.

Sounds like the Frontera is the same as my Rodeo. Sensor is on the rear of the gearbox and has the following wires:
blue/black
black
yellow
I have been told previously by someone that the blue/black wire is the signal wire.
