G'day all,

Wandering if anyone with a current model (old shape 2004 TD6) GU wagon has had problems with activating hazard switch when towing trailer. Recently found mine blows the 10amp fuse straight away, don't think its a prob with trailer as doesn't do it on other vehicles. Only occurs with hazard switch, not indicators when used.

Vehicle wiring on TD6 is that which nissan fitted with genuine towbar/harness/plug etc.

Wandering if their circuitry is not up to scratch??

Anyone with similar experiences....??

cheers

Bushfox,

I tow an off road van and have uped the fuse to 20 amp to cater for the van when connected. Problem fixed.

Had a smilar problem with fuses on both hazard lights and indicators when I got Nissan to fit the ARab spec taillights (with indicators in em), just rreaplced the fuses, the current rating must be close to its 10a rating and with the extra lights in bullbar and taillights they blew. As stated above upgrade it to 15 or 20a, as long as you're sure theres no problem with the wiring. Anyway if there is you'll still blow a 20a fuse - easy!

HI Bushfox.
I wired up the rear lights in the body of my GU as I felt the bumper bar lights alone were not enough. The first time I tested the hazards, I blew the fuse. I agree with the others and suggest upping the rating to 15 or 20 Amps.

Hi Bushfox,

Had exactly the same problem when I towed my boat, but fine with my camper trailer. Check the wiring on your trailer, if the main wire is too long or too thin it will blow the fuse, I shortened the main lead on the boat trailer (one of those removable boat light boards) and it worked fine. I would ask the guys replying above where the fuse is located, if I remember correctly I had a lot of trouble finding it (wasn't down where the bonnet release is....I think) I could be wrong it may be easy to find, I also had trouble finding an air-con fuse. Good Luck.

fuse is under the bonnet
i had the same problem, fitted 15 amp fuse, all ok
my bullbar also has indicators built in, which was putting extra load on the circuit
