'Sup everyone, first off - awesome site.

I was looking at fitting a set of rockhoppers to the old lady ('87 4Runner), but then this guy told me about dual transfer cases. I have done a tiny bit of research into this practice of fitting a second transfer case to one's 4x4, however what i haven't been able to find out is:

A) If they are actually really cool (as in better than rockhoppers)
B) What the difference is in wearing extra parts out etc? whether they make the life of the car more strenuous or complicated in any way

By the way, i really only need to change low range because i do alot of beach driving so i still need a fairly high, high-range. But for the crazy stuff it would be beneficial for my car and i to have some assistance in the form of lower gears. Lockers are going on at a later stage.

Cheese in anticipation,

Paddo

I think that you would need a shorter rear tailshaft & longer front shaft. & maybe a few other bits. Extra weight & extra gear lever. Otional ratios maybe better.
Try a search on outerlilits 4X4. They have heaps of this type of info.
