hey dudes, hi im new here....

got a couple of questions for you diesel gurus , i have a bit of experience with boosting sportscars and stuff and so now being the proud owner of a '02 3 litre turbo navaara naturally i'm looking for a bit more grunt. i know diesels aint like skyylines but hey there seems to be room for improvement here right?

Questions: aps recomends a exhaust and some digital piggyback computer which i think i'll probably do and maybe track down an intercooler this i can all manage, but whats the deal with raising boost on diesles can it be done safely with the factory management or not possible?

any help appreciated.

Yes the aftermarket boys have computer chips to enhance performance and economy. One such is unichip. Also a mandrel bent exhaust of two and a half inches or more helps. As this motor 3ltr is the same as the GU Patrol it can be tweaked quite a bit however the downside could be that the drivetrain may suffer under the extra power.
Go and have a yarn with the oposite lock people or some other 4wd specialist.
I used to have a handle on life, but it broke.

Cheers Dodg.

Hi,
If your ute is a D22 series Navara with the ZD30-TE 3.0 Litre Turbo Diesel 1/2002 onwards have a look at www.safari4x4.com.au for the Safari Dtronic unit part number SD-35.
These unts are simple to fit and increase the Power by 15% and torque by 20%.
These units are sold and installed if required by ARB etc.

yeah ok thanx fellas so now i will consider the dtronic and tunit units, so 14 psi standard eh? thats actually a lot higher than i thought it would be...hmmmm that seems very high for stock setup, i wasnt really keen to go over 1 bar....

so this motor came out in the patrol as well with an intercooler? does this mean i could perhaps find the exact intercooler and piping needed at a patrol wreckers or something and just bolt it straight on i wonder? probably need some bonnet mods i guess, ? is this possible?

also anyone recomend good dump pipe and exhaust place for good $$$$ value in melbourne area?

cheers dudes...

you have a variable vain on the zd 30 which can be tweaked i dont thinks its 14 psi though?
im doing my intercooler at the mo using either a wrx subaru front mounted (due to lack of engine room on top unless i went a body lift, prob using mandrel bends and steam pipe stainless has too much heatsoak.
failing air flow on that a qd32 intercooler from jap imports.
cheers good luck
