Can someone tell me if I have a problem with my 2002 TD Prado. When started after its been sitting for 30 mins or more, it takes 3 or 4 sec's for the oil light to go out once its running. Bearing in mind the importance of oil in a diesel vehicle am I slowly destroying my engine or is that normal ? The vehicle has done 105,000 klm's

Try putting a new oil filter on it.
It may be bleeding down and therefore taking time to refill each time you start.
Only a suggestion.
Best of luck

Have you had the vehicle since new, gas it been serviced every 5,000k, does it have a genuine oil filter or aftermarket are you running the correct oil, is the oil sender ok?
Lot of variables there so a bit hard to work out.

It would be a gummed up oil switch. Its very common on nissan and toyota.
you can pop a new switch in or try to drill the old one out to 1.5 mm. If you do it carefully and clean out the excess metal it will work fine.

Hi Kevin,
I also owned a 2002 TD Prado.
Mine used to take a few seconds to go out too. I used the correct grade CF-4 oil, Toyota filters etc and owned it since new.
If you're using all the stuff that Dave S has mentioned (correct oil, filters etc,) then you probably don't have a problem.
Cheers
Phil
