Wolfie,

Definitely sounds good.

I just wonder what happens to the water over time. I can't help but think that maybe humidity will increase in the cabin, and therefore you'd use your aircon anyway to dry it out.

But, the kewl sheet seems like a winner to me. I hate hot nights.

Hi Wolfie
the seat cover might be a good idea but I'm not sure about sleeping with a cool sheet over me, might end up too cool and a chill. What's the guarantee if your not completly satisfied with the product. Wouln't want to be left out in the cold:)

Well, I might give the man a call this week, and get the good oil.

I would like to know if it can be safely rolled up in a bag or something everyday whilst touring, or will it simply roll up in my swag, without making everything wet & smelly.

I'll let ya all know when I find out.

Cheers

Wolfie there's a mob out Salisbury way make neckerchiefs using the same gel, ideal for bushwalkers tradies etc. Might be a cheap way of trying before buying a seat cover or sheet.

Footballers use vests made on the same principle and if I remember rightly they were used by the Australian team at the Olympics.

I have a vest for use on the motorcycle in summer but find it gets me too cold. Can only wear it for half an hour or so and have to stop and take it off. Boy it gets cold.

As for staying cool for 3 days, have my doubts.

They can be wet if not dried properly before wearing or using. Also if not stored properly they will go mouldy.

Weight is not an issue when dry. Of course they weogh more when wet. They do roll up small when dry.

As someone suggested try a neck thingy first.

As a matter of interest I understand the concept was first used on paraplegiecs (sp) as apparently one of the many problems thay can have is maintaining a constant body temp. Don't know if that is true but I first came across these vests about 10 years ago when doing some work for an organisation that supported paras.

Well, I got a reply.

Yes, I can roll it up in my swag, but not longer than a day, or it will smell, and it will wet the inside of the swag.

Probably still going to have a look at one though....
