Does anyone know how i would go about increasing the boost on my 2003 3.0 turbo deisel. I prefer not to go down the option of a unichip or dtronic, my understanding is that these little beauties have electronic controlled fuel pumps that will automatically change fuel pressure depending on how much boost you run. I was thinking of putting a spring on the wastegate so it doesnt open as far.

Your kidding aren't you.
These things have enough problems without stuffing around with them.

You don't specify what vehicle it's for, but if it's a Nissan 3 litre Patrol turbo diesel, have a good close look at the turbo and tell us all where the wastegate is. lol.
Nissan 3 litre turbo's run a variable vane exhaust housing so no wastegates are used. The variable vane is constantly changing its position as determined by the ecu to control boost pressures.

I don't know anything about your question but how do find the 3" exhaust?
What differences has it made?
cheers

You can change the boost configuration. There's a locking nut on the variable vane diaphram shaft that can be lengthened or shortened to adjust the vane starting pitch. It only needs a very small adjustment (and I can't say which way) and you will change how it reacts. Play at your own risk. The Dtronic is a far better option.

You can't as such, but the ECU will do some adjustment itself to compensate for the extra boost, that's why it's got all those sensors. But that's why the Dtronic is so much better, it looks after the lot.
