I've been hearing that 4Runner RV6s were recalled due to a fault head gasket. Does anyone know what years were affected? Did it only apply to the RV6 or was the V6 SR5 also recalled? Anyone had first hand experience? Other than this problem are they a good bus?

Yes I did look into this. Can't remember if it was 93 or 94 but after that they're ok. A sales chap looked me in the eye and said they were good on the fuel contary to what everyone else says, that's when I decided not to deal with him but they are a good jigger. Diesel motors can be very hard to find.

Recalled!! I doubt it. I know of 2 people that were away from home when the head gaskets let go. One had just had it's 80,000km service and there was no mention of a problem from our toyota dealer here in Wodonga. They waited until the motor let go then fixed it under warranty with a virtually complete engine rebuild at no cost. That was the only highlight from that experience. The V6 also had exhaust manifold warpage also on the earlier ones.
Unfortunately they and other brands seem to have a "run til it breaks" mentality unless it is a safety issue.
