We've just sold our 1998 3.0 TD after 3 months of problems. We are now undecided whether to buy an Aug 2001 SE Wide track V6 Auto 15000kms or a brand new V6 Man base mdl.The SE costing $5000 extra.Advise from Jackaroo owners would be appreciated.

I own a 99TD base model and I hace to say that after looking at my neighbours SE for the last 5 years, the base model (single colour) looks plane and simple.
The base doesn't have a few things the SE does it really depends on what luxuries you want. The mannual windows are ok but cruise control would have been handy.
Whatever you get, it is bound to grow on you.

Hi Spencer I have a 2001 se petrol just before the wide track am pleased with it. The base model is just to plain for me but you can only buy what you can aford. I would have brought a 3.0 TD if I could aford it at the time. Have a think if you want to keep the truck for a long time, over that time you will do quit a few thinks to it like a better supension, duel battery, lights, bullbar, tinted windows, cargo barrier, side steps and so on. One thing you dont want to do is spend the money on thinks for the truck and down the track you are not happy with the base model and want to sell it and buy an se. I hope you under stand what I'm getting at.

Spencer, I like to hear about the problems you experienced with your Jackaroo. I'm presently facing the same dilema with a problem unsolved after two months of back and forth to the dealer. david

If I were in the market for a new 4wd ATM I would be having a very serious look at the new 3.2 DID Pajero specially in auto trim even the base model GXL has elect windows and cruise control. Cheers Rob
