Hi all, I've been having trouble with my interior rear view mirror when the car has been in the sun for a while it flops down on the ball. It only just stays in position when it's been sitting in a cool spot although it's a warranty item. Guess where I have to wait for a new one to come from? yep Japan approx 7 weeks can you believe that?

biggest manufacturers in JAPAN yes, biggest imporrter into Australia and largest volume seller in Australia yes. Thats why the mirrors are there, I would ask for one from a new Cruiser or one from the lots in the meantime. See what they say.

My Honda does this as well.

You need to have the blink rate of a sparrow to see images on a hot day, because it vibrates heaps.

Usually I've got so much stuff in the rear cage, I simply don't bother anymore.

You would have thought they could have pulled one off a demo vehicle for you or something though.

Maybe someone's got a Nissan one you could use for a while...... LOL!

Cheers

Wolfie

Yeh Wolfie that's what I thought, even a different colour would have done for a few weeks.

Snatchem,

Do you have ivory or grey interior? The ivory ones are ex Japan but the grey is available from the eastern states and I have stock also.

Snatchem,
Quite simple really, the grey interior out sells the ivory by 20 to 1. Therefore there will only be minimal stock of the ivory. If someone else or maybe two or so had the same problem then all the stock gets sold.
It is not a common problem I have only sold 1 grey in two years and no ivory. Every industry that sells goods or services runs out of something sometime, cars are no different.

Snatchem,
I was talking about vehicle sales not mirror sales regarding the ratio's. As I said I have only sold one mirror in all the years the 10 series has been around so definately not a common problem.

Snatchem,

Next time it's able to sit in position for a while, try painting a bit of clear nail polish on the ball at the interface with the mirror body. This might hold it until the new one arrives.

It's just a thought.

I don't that it would work or make things worse, but hey it's a suggestion.

Thanks for the tip Savvas I bought some Supa Glue last night to try that I'm guessing it will work so long as I don't hang big fluffy dices on it, 9 months is not long for it to last though it's not like I've been on any corrugated roads as yet.

Snatchem,

"it flops down on the ball"

Tape a Viagra or Cialis tablet to the mirror.

So easy to fix! Position it correctly and add one drop of super glue to ball and socket. This will hold it till a replacement arrives.
