Hi
I'm flying over to
Perth next week for a fuew days business and a few days pleasure and getting around in a hired campervan (beats staying in a hotel and you can get around). Does anyone know of any public showers, preferably at a beach in the perth/
fremantle area?
Cheers ... AZ

There are public showers at each of the main beaches in the changerooms. Probably cold water, and probably wide open with no privacy cubicles. Not what you're after I'd guess.
Caravan Parks may let you use their showers for a small fee, as may Youth Hostels or other backpacker accommodation.
Not sure if sleeping in your campervan in public areas in the
Perth Freo area is either allowed or all that smart. Probably safe; probably; ...in the right areas. I'm pretty sure there are rules about
parking up for the night and sleeping in your van.
However back in the olden days, I've been known to take long rests in
the beach carparks at night in my EH Wagon, but generally had to get the girlfriend
home before dawn!! :-)

Have you investigated the YHA? They're sure to have
places in the areas you're talking about. We've used them around Oz and toured NZ staying at YHA's. Usually excellent cheap accomodation with good amenities. And because you're sharing kitchens, you tend to start talking with strangers and actually meet people. (Strange but true)
Check out their website, I reckon as simple as yha.com.au Have fun in the Golden West.

Agreed 100%.
Great way to travel with kids too - probably need to be able to look after themselves at bit. We've travelled through NZ for a month using only YHA with three kids(7, 10 and 13), and before that stayed in many across Australia. Maybe ran into Smudger!!
I spent a week in
Canberra YHA and booked up a twin room to myself, so I had my own facilities and didn't have to share. Cost still worked out to half that of any other accommodation around. Plus you get the varied company of international travellers.
At around $20 - $30 a night, plus some earplugs just in case, they are great
places to stay.
