Aldi has 18litre coolers available for $69, on sale today i think. About one third of its capacity is in the raised lid. Not bad value for money and it saves dragging out the fridge for a day out with the family if you just want to take a few drinks out. Most of you guys already have the outlet in the back for your fridge, easy. cya

Michael, a day out is about all I have found they are good for or maybe bringing the frozen goods home from Coles. The main draw back is that they run all the time and eat power.

Fair enough Vince, i dont own one but was thinking about it. I have a 90 litre Liemack and it weighs about 40 kg's and is too much trouble to struggle with it for a day out. Michael

I believe the Aldi units are the ones that don't have compressors, they have what's known as a "peltier" device. These units can be used for warming or cooling but their cooling capacity is restricted to like 10 degrees celcius below the ambient temperature, they are terrible inefficient but they to actually work. However, living in
brisbane i have no wish to drink beer at 20 degrees celcius in summer. And yearh, they suck about 5amps/hr continuously, and the peltier device is a small wall so they are not efficient at extracting heat evenly throughout the esky. But hey, better than a plastic bag if your issue is shopping goods.

While we are on it, those 12V ovens discussed here a while back are on eBay now, around $15 plus shipping last I looked. Handy if you dont have a Dick Smith nearby.
