GU pops out of 3rd gear while driving

Hi guys
I was wondering if anybody had heard of this problem...
I was talking to my cousin last night and he was telling me his"1998 GU 2.8TD PATROL" pops out of 3rd gear while driving...
At speed of around 40-50kms
Has anybody else had a similar problem/issue with theirs???
Any help to steer him in the right direction would be greatly appreciated

The 2.8 has the gearbox from Z series Coupe (different to all other Patrols), I would say a retainer spring is broken, get it fixed sooner rather than later because if not, the selector spline gets damaged.

Also
To get the retainer spring fixed is that like a saddle or does the box need to be pulled down and or apart.

My GU has been at the Nissan dealer all this week..... It is jumping out of second. After changeing the 2nd gear syncro and 1st/2nd selector hub it still jumps out. They are pulling the selectot housing appart at them moment where all the detent springs etc are housed.

Is your truck under warranty still??
My cousins is a 98 Patrol so it is NOT under warranty
Im sure that ive read herer on the post somewhere that Nissan did this under warranty..even for trucks that were over theri warranty period...is this true
