Hi, I have just recently purchased a 93 Holden Jackaroo, the engine has been converted prior to purchase to a 3.8Ltr V6 engine out of a commodore. To date I have had endless problems with the gears. Originally I thought I had done the clutch but further investigation suggests that the original gearbox doesn't give enough throw for the clutch to engage properly. Currently it is difficult to get into gear and if adjusted the gears slip, there is no happy spot! I was hoping someone might know of this problem and a possible soloution, or maybe if someone has this type of conversion done and had any problems and/or fixes.

Cheers
Jason

Hi Jason,

I don't think you'd find too many of these conversions. I'm wondering why it would be done anyway. The old Commodore 3.8V6 out of a VN (at 125kW) has less power than the Isuzu 3.2 (130kW) and not a lot more torque either.

However, it may be worth visiting a mob that does conversions to see if there is some further alterations they can do to the gearbox shift linkages to get it right. Marks Adapters maybe.

Thanks for the input. I'm pretty sure its a VP engine (plenty of power), I'm also in the process of contacting Marks Adapters in a hope the problem can be solved.

Cheers

Marks mate up the V6 to a Hi-Lux HD 5 Speed.
