one has to be licenced to handle refrigerants.
air, moisture (and that doesnt mean it has to be raining) dirt etc etc in pipework will cause problems. then we have making sure the pipework is installed correctly...then etc etc etc
my advice...leave it to a frigie...or is that fridgie?

No dramas, hit a bit of a wall ringing around the local scene... thought I'd ask. Guess I'll just have to keep looking.
Thanks

One thing that you probably need to see get done is proper air evacuation of the pipes between the indoor and outdoor units in my honest opinion. I installed ours bar the final electrical connection (I ran all the wiring, but had a sparky check and connect it to the circuit breaker) but was told that if I did the pipework to completion myself I'd leave air in the system - which would lead to a less efficient setup. I had the bloke who came out pump the air out and then crack the refrigerant gas stored in the outdoor unit to fill the system. Opinions between installation companies differ in this regard, as it obviously takes longer and they have to carry the gear to do it. Most just connect the pipes and crack the gas - and really don't care... they don't have to live with it.
Just a suggestion :)
Cheers
Chris

Are there still refrigeration tradesmen around? Like auto electricians and farmers, they're an aging and rare breed. Don't send your children to uni - the country needs tradesman to do real hands on work. With a good trade, they'll always make money (unlike aging farmers!).
Just my thoguhts for the day.
