G'day,
just got back from a trek out to lancelin just thought i'd let use know about the beach run to wedge island.
It is DEADLY, at the moment there's a washed out bit of the track and no sh*t, we had a ford courier xl, just a little 4-by, roll it! infront of us!.
spent half an hour digging him out and then we had to roll him back over.
so just watch out hey that beach can be unforgiving.
oh and if u decided to stop for any reason.....you get out and you have literally 100's of sand flies on you.
Take it easy

Gday

We just got back today as well, I know the area you are talking about, anyone would have have to be a fool to attempt it at high tide, it is impassable, definatly head inland and bypass Narrow Neck I would suggest further to take the inland tracks from Lancelin get past Narrow Neck then head towards the beach, fortuneatly we came down from wedge in the morning at low tide. so travelling closer to the sea was easy,

Thanks for the info , I was wondering what the beach was like -I'm heading up that way next Friday night so it looks like we will be taking the track out the back - Its a little longer and a few bumps but at least we should get there.

Gday

very good choice, the track at narrow neck as just about been washed away, with a drop of the side about 2 foot, for which you cant see at high tide, so very easy to roll your truck, low tide is the best time, the sand was so hard, we did from Wedge to Lancelin in about 15 minutes, 90% of the time in 2WD, Hence we could see the damage to the track at Narrow Neck. We got back so quick we had time for a play in the dunes at Lancelin lol.

Have a good trip, apart from Narrow Neck, the beach is a goer.
