Hit a Deer with the 99 Hilux dual cab and wrote the bull bar off, Insurance have offered to replace with TJM or ARB one, My choice.
The bar that is on there is TJM Winch bar!
Is there any difference other than the asestheics between the 2 bars ???

Thanks in advance

Brian,
Personally, after a little bit of research and talking on some disscussion boards i would go with the ARB winch bar.

Brian, Have recently gone through a similar situation choosing a bar for my 00 Hilux. After looking at all of them, IMO the genuine Toyota winch bar appeared to be the strongest.

Just another thought.

having fitted lots of both at a dealership to rodeos & jackaroos, i say go the arb , found they fit up and adjust better and seem better made as far as fit and finish goes. They are both probably similar strength in a frontal impact, but a lot of the tjm's have the bolt on side wings which i dont like. Just purchased a winch bar for the jackaroo from arb, very happy..

Brian,

I hit a large Roo a couple of years ago just out of Wilcannia. I was doing about 120 and the only damages was to the number plate.. OH and the roo. ARB bar.

Since then I bought a new car with one of those alloy jobbies from Nissan. Hit a small roo just out of BH at about 60 and caved in the front of the bar. Luckily it didn't get ot the painted bits of the car. But a bigger roo at any higher speed and it would have been ugly.

I now have a brand new ARB winch bar, if anything it is stronger than the old ARB bar on the last car. The panel beater who fitted the bar reckons they are miles better than anything else. He doesn't sell them either just fits what the owner wants.

I have never owned a TJM bar so can't coment on them. I do know the ARB is good.

I have an ARB winch bar. Has hit many solid things and only minor dents under the bar. If TJMs bullbars are like any other TJM branded product then you couldn't pay me to take it.

I am with Utemad, if the TJM bar I had on my VS is an indication of TJM quality, then ARB wins hands down, the ARB one on the cruiser has taken a beating, with only cosmetic damage.

Thanks for all the replies People!!!
Had the car accessed on Monday $2.5k the bar looks all right is bent up underneath but will be replaced with new!
It is amazing as the Deer was hit at about 80kph it was a solid hit was able to slow down from a 100 and hit it straight on , had no choice as there was a road train on the other side of the road!
Mark up another reason the have the bullbar!!
