Howdy all,
Just wondering if anyone knows a good fix for the rear elctric windows in my 91 80 series. Every now and again they come off their bracket that connects them to the electric window winder. I siliconed one side in and liquid nailed the other side in about a year ago to see which would hold the best and within a week of each other they both came off again. The silicon worked best as it only moved an inch down allowing the roller to come out the end of the bracket.
Surely others have experienced this as it happens too often to me to be an isolated incident. Do the later 80 series have a different bracket?
All help appreciated,
Charlie

Hi Charlie,
I've never seen an 80 series with an electric rear window, my father had an early one and the rear of that was in 2 seperate parts- tailgate and the top part which was the window. i thought only 4runners had the electric rears.. my 86 4runner electric window still works which is surprising.
Anyway, goodluck mate

Be careful with the rear window on your Forerunner. A mate of
mine had one (still does) however one day he wound it up but it must have come off its bracket and it went up crooked. When he opened the door and then closed it again the gass bleep tered. I thought it was hilarious as we could see it about to happen but he did it too quick to stop him.
As for the original problem. Apparently Toyota are renowned for this problem. At least that is what my mate was told by a Toyota spare parts guy. He owned an 86 Corolla but he was told all Toyotas do it. He bought new brackets that hold the glass and never had the problem again. Don't remember the cost. It was about 5 years ago.

Go to an auto glass place and get some of the older style cork and rubber strip and refit then leave the windows up for a week to allow it to set.
Also chek that the glass is able to slide freely and a little spray lube will also help

Stickerflex is what you need....but when the window doesnt come appart from the arm, the motor will burn out because the root problem is the window is sticking in its tracks.....fix that and u will fix the problem...i hope my xray vision is working ok, usually, it is from fish oil sprayed in the doors hap-hazardly and it gums up the window guides.
