Megsy
Have a look on top of the microphone
mine has a small button marked call ,if this is pressed in it always reverts to channel 1 ,it is easy to accidentaly push while using the mike
Give it a try
Alan.

Megsy.
You have probably experienced a voltage surge usually caused by using jumper leads which has caused the Micro processor to loose its memory.
This is a common failure under these circumstances and is easily reprogrammed by your local GME dealer.
If your are near Wagga I can help otherwise contact GME and find out who their local service rep is.
For information it is not enought to just switch off the radio when using jumper leads. You need to either disconnect the power lead or remove the fuse.
Cheers

If the tech has his programming on a laptop he should be able to reprogram the unit in the vehicle (via mic socket) otherwise you may have to remove it. - check first.

This happened to our TX4200 last year.
--EE-- is a code for "Eprom error".
The Eprom is the main chip in the radio.
In adition to your symptoms, ours wouldn't scan or select the priority channel.
As stated earlier, it was caused by a voltage spike created by our auxillary battery relay.
The radio was re-programmed by the wonderful people at Electraphone in
Adelaide as a warranty claim, although it was 5 years old!
Thanks again fellas.
It's an easy fix and takes less than an hour.
Their phone number is (08) 8234 2633.
I removed the radio from the vehicle to have it done.
The later models of Electraphones do not suffer from this problem.
We have since replaced our basic on/off relay with a Redarc Relay which is suppressed.
Cheers,
Trev
