Hi
Does anyone know of where I can get an aftermarket Tacho for my 80 series diesel Std model?
What would the approx cost be.
TIA
Tony N.

try a wreckers for an RV or GXL complete dash. They may trade yours. The wiring should be the same a wrecker will be able to confirm this.

The only issue with replacing the dash is I belive the pickup sensor that goes on the motor is not installed on the Std model and from what I have read it is fitted infront of the diesel pump. So would require the pump to be removed to fit the sensor and them there is the cost of the sensor.

Any Supercheap, Autobarn, Bursons, Repco store would have VDO style tachos.
Cost call em and ask.

I'd think it would have a sensor on the pump or maybe even a kind of "knock" sensor on the block.
Anyone?

Basicaly they are driven by pulses picked up from various points around the place. Most common is off the harmonic balancer (big pulley on the front of the motor at the bottom). These can be either from reflective tape or magnetic depending on manufacturer. There are some that are cable driven like the speedo.
That's it in a nut shell
