Electric brake controller

Hi all.
I am about to install my Electric brake controller from my old (2 years) vehicle to my new LC100.
Question is this: Is there a problem wiring the signal from the brakes to the controller direct of the brake switch or should I wire it from the brake light?
Appears to be some question as to its effect on the vehicles puter.
