My best mate Keith bought a Patrol last year at this time in 3.0 litre T/d and I sent him an email regardinghis truck as i am in the market and he tells me it has been in and out of service for 4 months now with the same electricla problem ?
Well thats what service are saying ??
anyway he now has a loan car as they can't fix the bloody thing. waiting on a part from Japan which will be here in Feb or somebleep... He is wellbleepas he had a xmas holiday with the fam planned and all !!.
The car just dies at 1,000rpm and stalls. They cant fix it ?? .. service guy said " the last one we had that did this was fixed like this " and it never fixed it !!!.
Glad I bought the Cruiser now.. that really scares me !
What could it be ?

Any mechanical device can have a flaw. The Nissan product is not immune to this.
New Landcruisers are susceptible to breaking torsion bar mounts and lower control arms on the front
suspension. Front differentials have also been an issue in some LC's after 2001.
The elctrical problem in your mates vehicle could be something as simple as a crook fusible link. Have seen this problem on a GQ Nissan once.

Very diplomatic Willem. For a minute there I thought you were going to say you get what you pay for. But then I remembered...........you drive a Nissan.

You remind me of the ditty:
One day upon a stair
I saw a man who wasn't there
He wasn't there again, today
Oh how I wish he'd go away
Yes two Nissans and a Landcruiser

So basically what you are saying is it isn't 'you get what you pay for' anymore but 'if Willem has it it is good if not then it is crap'.
Thanks for
clearing that up.

Just pointing out your bias is all Willem. We all have it but you seem to think you're above it all.

Now just for fun go and switch the badges on your Cruiser and Patrol ;-)~

I am with him there Willem .. sorry mate but the X-trail aint a Toyota or Honda ... collapsable front guards ??? Got to be great in a collision , cheap plastics thoughout and the ugliest instrument layout I have ever seen ?? . Try to get performance figures on the x-Trail .. Fact is both the Honda and the Toyota have more Kw's at the
wheels as the Nissan drivetrain is extremely hungry .
Suspension travel?? non existent !.

Like you, my wife is quirky and argumentative and drives a Soft Roader. I advised against it but she wanted it so she bought it. Now it shares the stable with the others. And yes, as far as 4x4 goes it is an inferior bush vehicle but a good runabout, just like your Rodeo.

Absolute last word on this thread :o)
Utemad and his side kick In Hock(mmm didn't you start this thread?)
Yes an Xtrail may be poxy but like a Citroen 2CV or a DAF or an Austin Champ or a Landcruiser 100 or a Rodeo, it has it uses and purposes. Latest 4x4 magazine(which I do claim as biased towards advertisers products) give it a good wrap. It is a matter of opinion. My opinion of a Rodeo is that I wouldn't buy one although Isuzu products are quite good over all. My opinion of the LC100 is that I wouldn't mind one but the budget doesn't stretch that far, and so I am not In Hock.
So I'll stick with my GQ and G wagon and Xtrail for a multi purpose of reasons and you fellas can stick to your chosen transport. Maybe I'll see you out in the bush somewhere or maybe you'll pass me on the black top at breakneck speed.
Have good day, wherever you may be

It amazes me that it takes so long to get a part from Japan. If they really cared they could air freight it here in 24hr rather than waiting for the slow boat.
Just don't push your Cruiser too hard in the rough. They don't make em like they used to.

Has he got Nissan Aust involved?
Its similar to my story - the car was also under warranty.
Prado would not change gears. Took it to delaer who had it for 7 weeks. Dozens of different stories - but couldnt fix it. I finally emailed Tojo Aust and kicked up about it. Within 3 days they had it into another dealership, problem fixed and away I went.
Problem was an auto centering sensor (on the throttle) whatever that is - but it stopped the computer from allowing gear changes. 2nd dealer said it was so obvious they could not understand where the problem was.
Food for thought.

Australia. They have told him very diplomatically that as they do not know what the fault is it is just a matter of waiting until some possible parts arrive to fix the problem.

Get Nissan to check the AR Sesnsor on the fuel injectors, better still have him take it to a reputable fuel injector repair
shop. I had problems with mine cutting out and Nissan had no idea what it was. Turned out to be this AR Sensor that should have been picked up when Nissan did their computerised diagnostic check, but was found by a fuel injection company here in
Perth and it cost me HALF what Nissan would have charged. I only deal with Nissan now when all else fails

Don't Take nissan's word for it get a second opinion from a reputable Fuel injection Turbo repairer, 9 times out of 10, if it is the turbo, it can be rebuilt at lot less cost than the Nissan method of replacing the turbo (~$4000)
