John,

I don't know about Hungerford - Wanaaring but I travelled through that area in early October.

We went Broken HIll - White Cliffs - Tib then Silver City Highway to Milparinka and back roads from Mil down to rejoin the highway just south of Packsaddle.

All the roads are good dirt and fairly easy driving, probably the worst is the Silver City Highway. Speed of 80 - 100 are fairly comfortable. You will need to watch for any water that is lying as it is generally soft in the puddles and they can be deeper than you would expect.

It has been raining in the Hill for the last couple of hours but not heavy and that doesn't mean it is wet, or dry for that matter, out near Wanaaring. If it does get wet then the roads will be closed fairly quickly and the fine for driving a closed road is substantial.

Happy travelling

Did Tibooburra - Wanaaring - Hungerford in one day in early June this year. No sweat - normal station country graded roads.

But - the weather is always the question mark. Three weeks before that we left Wanaaring at 11 am in dry weather, camped on (literally) the road at sundown before we got to Tib. It just hosed down! We waited till noon next day and drove into Tib where we stayed for 4 days. Buts that's normal outback travel - we have been doing it for 22 years and this was the first time we had got caught. You just have to obey the signs and listen to the coppers, RTA & National Parks people when it does get wet.

99% of the time - no sweat.

Thanks Max, I got caught for 4 days in Cameron Corner in late May this year due to rain. I'm not confined by any timetable & thought I might look at White Cliffs & Packsaddle & was interested in road type etc.
