We are planning to fit the 3400UHF to our Pajero with a 6db ground independant antenna (Uniden). Is this one of the best UHF CB'S to fit or has anyone got any other ideas???
Tks

GME are the best units on the market. I have the 3400 and its great. If you have the room i might even consider the 4400 due to its larger screen and another extra 10 channels which gives it a total of 20.
Plus the extra receive channels can be programmed into the transceiver via the front face. The 3400 needs to be programmed by the dealer.

I've got a TX4400 and it's a great radio, The TX3400 has nearly all the same features and is better if space is a problem.
I've had Unidens in the past and found they needed regulary (yearly) servicing to maintain 5 watts of output. GME's don't have that problem.
The gound independent antenna is they way to go - good one's are around $75-$90.

Yep, good choice, The 3400 and the 4400 are both great sets, 3400 if you need the room, 4400 if you need bigger controls and displays.
I have got a few of both models and many other brands as
well, and these two are the best radio's I have ever purchased.
Stick with lower gain antennas if you do most of your work around hilly country and higher gain if you work out on the flat country.
Cheers
John

I just bought the tx3200 which is the model down but for $200 less you could consider that - as far as i am aware the only signiificant difference is the remote face - but the tx3200 is very slim line and room-friendly
enjoy

The main differences apart from the remote head, are: the tx3400 has selcall, two scan modes (instead of one) and 10 extra channels for receive only (eg police frequencies). But otherwise they are identical radios as far as quality goes.

Buy the GME 409l antenna, very good quality and you get both 6 and 9 db elements.
