Did you try the company who did the lift?

Hi Brent

I am assuming that you have a Reece or equivalent style bar. There are adjustable height tongues available from some 4wd shops or you can manufacture your own.
If you have a genuine Nissan bar, you will find that you need to crimp the box section of the tongue in a press to make it fit and adjust the tow pin hole a few mm.

Ewan,
I know what you mean about crimping....my 1990 Maverick wouln't accept a "normal" Hayman Reece style box section tongue. However, both my former 1993 GQ and my current 2000 GU had/have Nissan bars and accept "normal" size tongues.

G'day Brent,
Mate, you should be able to get a longer gooseneck (or a heavy duty adjustable one) from a trailer or caravan place. I often see HiLux's around with a drop gooseneck that's about 10" long because of their high chassis location.
However, depending on what you're towing, have you thought of giving the trailer a spring over to lift it up too? I did this with my tandem 8' x 5' box trailer. It still wasn't quite high enough to sit level behind the Patrol, so I put spacer washers totalling about 30mm on the bolts between the "A" frame and the TREG coupling I use.
Note that I use TREG couplings on both my camper and box trailer so I don't have to change things around every time I want to tow one or the other. I also have my goose neck facing "upwards" so I can get maximum clearance for the Ultimate.
