Mine is a Opposite Lock unit and is very good. It has been to Cape York twice. It did develop some cracks at the top of the uprights, but this fault has been recified by welding on a couple of gussets supplied by Opp Lock. They knew about the problem and current models come with the gussets.
At the time (early 2002), mine cost $1700- odd whilst the Kaymar equivalent was about $2700-. I don't know about the brand you mention.
There are another couple advertised at present:

I think the other one is the one you are talking about...K&N4WD in WA
Good luck.

G'day
Dont know about the brand you are talking about but, a few years back i had a 80 series with a kaymar carrier, which i could not fault.
However to my current 80 series i have fitted a strong arn duel carrier which i are more than happy with and at considerably less cost than the kaymar.

Hi, I have a K&N dual wheel carrier and its the bees knees. The carriers are mounted at either end of a full width steel step. The swing our carriers are mounted on stubb axle, and the off centre type, spring loaded, catches are very efficient. I carry a spare at one end and a 15hp Honda outboard motor the other end. Earlier this year we travelled the Kimberley, included the GRR and into the Bungles with the outboard mounted. Spot on. Mine was $1600 about two years ago.
Happy camping,
Mike.

K & N are a WA based company that does a lot of custom manufacture of accessories. They also specialize in long range tanks.

You probably will need to be prepared to wait a while to get your job done, but from what I have seen over the yrs, they do a good job.

As in the previous reply, they replace the whole rear step, with a neat fitting unit.

Hey hey
I was fortunate enough to buy a vehicle with Kaymar twin pivot bar fitted (ex-gov). I transerred the bar to my new vehicle when I upgraded (same vehicle - just newer - a troopy).

So the bar has now survived two vehicles and been all over Australia whilst in my ownership - not to mention what it did previously - and no faults or problems at all - and it has copped an absolute beating (Cape York; Canning Stock Route; Kimberly; Vic High Country just to name a few). All the time one side has also carried a high lift jack as well as a spare.

Still - they are very expensive and without this experience I would have winced and thought pretty hard about buying one new myself.

Cheers
