Lone Wolf
Well, I just seen the new ad on the Telly.
This is what they are offering! Tom Phillips is spearheading the campaign as the front man on the ad.
10 years!
I am NOT going to get into a flame about how good Magna's and stuff are.... not interested.
10 years!
Not even the marque of other vehicles offer this.
10 years!
Dare I say it.... clutching straws whilst on the back foot? I hope not, I live in
Adelaide.
10 years on Engine & Transmission...... whoa!!!!
Cheers
Decade Decadent Wolf.

What about Subaru, 3 years unlimited kms. My old man runs up about 160,000 to about 220000kms in his subaru in 2.5 years and sells them with warranty hahaha
But 10 years.... long time.
Cheers

yeh he is constantly driving to and from work and throws in a trip to Melboourne a few times a year to visit me. I think he averages about 1500 kms just during the week to work and home. They live out on a property just past the
gold coast hinterland and he travels to northside
brisbane for work....

Aaaaah...but what is the catch? You may have to have servicing by the warrantor for the full ten years. Any warranty work that may occur will be offset by the lucrative servicing charges. Still, a nice new Pajero with 10 years warranty is inviting!

That's it Willem - every 10,000km at their (restrictive) locations - you can bet they'll get their money's worth out of you - but, like everyone else before me - 10 Years!!

mmmm
I have been watching this Mitsubishi mob.
They seem to be ahead of other makes here in Oz.
Magna - all wheel drive 1st .........then Holden then Ford
The features they have as standard creep onto other makes within a year or two then everyone goes ooohhh & aaaaahhhh when the popular puss buckets get 'em.
Not a fan of any car, 4bees a different tune, I say go gettum Mitzi

Bugger, I knew I'd get it a bit wrong.......
So, it's like extended warranty then?
They must be confident in their vehicle. Is it just the Magna, or is it on lots of cars?
If it's on 4 by's, I might take a bit of a look.....

In Fridays motoring section the article only talks about the Magna, don't know about the rest of the stable.

More than 62% of mitsubishi's sales are govt gimme sales, to keep the No's up, they wont get the 10 yr warranty, and with the .0 something % market share it doesnt leave alot of vehicles to cover for that period......

I did say "OFFER", not give or include. Could be right about 5 yrs total, though I thought it was up to 7. Could be wrong.

I was talking to a Mitsubishi dealer at a show about 2 months ago and he said they`d sell heaps more Magnas etc if they were rear wheel drive. He said it`s been the biggest sticking point with them since day one.

As I understand it Mitsu Australia's problems stem from overseas.
Mitsu japan has been losing enormous amounts of money and that reflects badly here as they are desperately trying to rationalise the worldwide operations.
So plants may close here due to more efficient (read profitable) plants existing elsewhere. Or they close due to lowering demand for the product they produce due to cancellation of certain models.
This gives them an enormous PR problem worldwide.
Make no mistake about it, Mitsubishi IS in Trouble. But no-one seriously expects them to go under at this stage. That would be a disaster for the Japanese economy at a time when they can't afford one. Their financial system is already shaky and the failure of a major manufacturer would plunge their entire economy into crisis.
What may happen is that certain areas local manufacturing will close.
And even if Mitsu's
Adelaide plants were to close (and the SA Government will do its level best to make sure that doesn't happen) the brand would, in all likelyhood still be on sale here. Just as Mazda, Honda, Subaru, Renault, Citroen etc. etc. are available here.
What they are trying to overcome with this warranty offer is the public perception that Mitsubishi Service etc won't be around to supply spares and service for the car. Bollocks.

There is a catch guys.
Have been told the 10 year warranty only applies to the original owner from new. It ceases if the car changes owners.
Someone might be able to confirm this.

The 5 Year bumper to bumper warranty IS transferable.
The 5 Year Engine/Gearbox extension (to take to 10 years) is NOT.

We just bought a Magna
Sedan, and they only mentioned the 5 year warranty. First we have heard about 10 years. The 1st Service / inspection was completely FREE and then they are serviced at 15,000km intervals and there is no requirement to have it done at one of their dealerships.
When we bought our previous Corolla the Toyota dealer said that we had a free extended warranty of 6 years and extra kms. The catch was that every 3 months of a set number of kms the car had to be returned to them for service at a set fee of $175 per service for a little Corolla. No wonder they can give a free extended warranty when they charge those rates. Needless to say it never went back to Toyota for service.

Yeah they are doing some pr work because of the shaky situation, as said. Wouldn't be surprised if mitsu aust closes but mitsu japan will keep on as usual. We just aren't a big player in world markets, hell have a look at the vehicles we dont get here to tell you that.. Geez mitsu only just started bringing the EVO here and thats only on a low volume compliance. The mitsu dealers will carry on as usual. I even thought about showing my support for them since i am buying a new car for the missus, had a look at the the lancer with all the free fruit thrown in, DANG thats one ugly interior, can see why they have to throw in the shiny goodies to take your attention away...
Was in the audio store the other day getting some extra cables etc, for
home and there was the sony rep in, got talking with him and another guy , sony aus sells about 8 million a year he said, in New
York alone - about 6 billion........ Hmm wonder why they dont rush here with the new toys..

Funny isn't it !
Car manufacturer in trouble - low sales.
So they offer extended warranties to original owner only.
Now that is NOT going to encourage you to trade your vehicle every year is it ???
Methinks they need to come up with a strategy to encourage faster turn over.

think outside the square?
Its not meant to get existing customers to change over every year....say every 4 max
those that cant afford to change, accept 10 yr ext.
But they, Mitsi, attract more (taking away a % who might otherwise purchase a holden or ford) customers by offering up to 10...knowing very well that most wont extend out past 5
And if they do, extended warranties do not cover wear n tear!
