Hi , in May next year I am planning to travel the
Canning Stock Route, I have made the trip twice before and concider myself to be a competent person, There will be 3 vehicles in the group including my 2001 model Ford F250. My concern is that the treck notes state 'no OKA'S AKA'S or wide track vehicles' My vehicle is a single cab tray back ute that will carry two adults and one child plus our gear. Do you think that I fall into the too big category? Regards Ken.

Not at all Ken. Indeed there was an F250 in the group a couple of days behind us in this years CSR trip. They had a very comfortable trip and were able to slowly ascend the dunes with minimal environmental impact. Hope there's not too much of a wet though if you are going as early as May.
Cheers

You should have no problem with regard to vehicle size, although I remember saying when we did the trip in '99 it would have been good if a few F100's had been through and broke all the small branches off the trees on the side of the track.
Have fun, I would like to do it again some time.
Regards

Hi Jim, tell me about it ! I have been exploring the coastal tracks in the South West corner of WA in the vehicle and last
easter we travelled the
Holland track. I have given up on the duco, and now take the attitude that I bought it to use in the bush and I'll do the worrying at resale time!
Regards Ken.

hi,Billowaggi,my wife and i did the csr in a 1980 f100 4wd lwb styleside ute in1996.Bigest ploblem was the track width,we had one set of tyres in the groove and the other side tyres making a track in the soft sand, not very good for getting a run up to get over the dunes.Once on the open sections ,no problems, but as mentioned before ,your duco and side mirrors will suffer.suggest you take a spare mirror you can fit /tape on ,incase yours gets broken.go for it and have a good time.regards jim
