Hello,
I hope there may be a few out there who can give me an honest idea about the ingress of dust in this years LC100? It is on my wish list, so I suppose I should find out.
I guess there are a number of variables, including whether you are following in a convoy situation or just cruzin on your own.
I checked out the archives to the best of my limited ability and couldnt find anything directly related to this.
Another question is; if there is dust, how has this challenge been tackled?
Thanks in advance,
Jeff

I run the aircon and tape up the rear vents on the out side.

All The best

If you search the archives you will find a bit on this, in any car the key is to pressurise the cabin, have fan on full, windows up and dash vents open (not recirculating). Use aircon when it gets warm. Switch to recirculate when other cars pass and avoid the convoy thing. .i.e. let other's dust settle before you head off.

I took my 4 month old GU to Cape York last year and was concerned about this issue. In Weipa on the way back I met a bloke who's new Prado was full of dust, not suprising he drove with the windows down, mine was no worse than if I had not vacuumed for a few weeks back home.

The above takes a little effort but you will be very happy with the result.

I agree entirely with Eric. I run a GU patrol and in my treks through the bulldust I have found that the only way to stop the dust getting in (and yes it stops about 99% of it) is by taping up the flow through vents on the outside of the vehicle and using the aircon. This develops a positive pressure on the inside of the seals and voila......the dust can't get in.

Cheers

What about the foils that you see on the rear of the roof. Do they direct air down over the back widow and keep the dust off? Just wondering if they are worth it.

Helps keep the bull dust sticking to the window and does help a bit but the aircon advice above is the best.

:-) No actually we didnt get any dust in ours, well a little in the back but it certainly didn't casue us any discomfort. Though the upper tailgate coming open on LARGE bumps probably was the most annoying thing, hence the dust in the back.
