The Nissan dealer has had my vehicle for over 2 weeks now after dropping it off on Monday 22nd Nov. They changed the 2nd gear syncro and selector hub and test drove it on the Wed and it still jumped out of second. They couldn't get it to jump out before I took it in so now they could see it really happens! The dealer wanted to replace the selector housing and after talking to the mechanic he gave the impression that it's not a serviceable part as welch plugs are used instead of grub screws etc to retain the detent springs etc.. But he had to wait for the ok from Nissan Head office. That evening they got back to him and said to strip it down. Fri morning the dealer ordered a new selector housing. It arrived on Mon/Tues and it was realised that the selector shaft needed replacing. This wasn't going to be available until Mon 6th Dec. but wasn't guaranteed to arrive. It didn't arrive so I called head office. Someone was supposed to follow this up and didn't get back to me. The part arrived yesterday and the dealer will try to start work on it in the arvo. It also makes it hard for the dealer to schedule time to put my truck back together when he still is booking in jobs and doesn't know exactly when the part was going to arrive. I just found that with the dealer not being able to use their initiative and order what parts they need to get me going without having Nissan Head office to authorize every step along the way slows down the whole procedure.
Hey say if I only needed the selector housing which could of been ordered on Wed and that was the only prob I could of been back on the road by the end of the first week, but Nissan Head office said pull the current one apart.
Supposed I'm just disappointed that it has taken so long and parts aren't readily available. You would think that they would have a reasonable stock of parts available and if not it should only take a couple of days to send a part from Japan via DHL or whoever. I've had 2 Holdens and you take the car in and you get it back. No question of problems, or waiting for Head Office to authorize things. The dealer was reluctant to take on the job initially because he knew he had to convince Nissan Head Office to begin with but being a 4wd’er himself he could understand my prob.

I hope the dealer has given you a replacement car while all this is going on. Good luck. I hope you get it back in time for the holidays!

Well that's what's even worse. I live in a remote location in NE Vic. Not real easy to get around without a vehicle! You'd think there would be some sort of offer but nope.
