Hi Guy's,

Am looking at buying a Cavalier Camper trailer (Off Road Deluxe)
and am wondering if anyone had any experience with them.

Will be taking it on the rougher roads around oz and am keen to know how they hold up.

Chers,
Jolly.

Great unit. We have the same trailer you are thinking about with the 14' tent unit. No problems at all. Have a 12v battery solenoid charged from the car, & a 60 litre water tank. I have set it up with 240v & earth leakage, kitchen on the rear door & fabricated a 3 bike rack that swings off the back. They are well made, light & very easy to tow.Ours is towed behind a 3ltr td str Nissan Navara

Jolly, I have the same one for 10 yrs plus now. Have had no problems at all. I tow it with a fj62 sahara landcruiser and do so up the beach regularly through very soft sand. It has also been taken up through the centre (Adelaide to Darwin) repeatedly and have had absolutley zero probelems with it!

not sure of the config now as my cavalier is 4.5 years old.
i had the the pnuematic jockey wheel fitted (a must if not standard)
gas bottle holder on back left corner instead of toolbox(handy for stove)
under floor water tank? is that inside the trailer.
fitted the external (over the wheel area) water tanks.
splashed out on the sliding steel kitchen unit, very useful unit.
full annexe(looking at my old brochure)- just checked cavalier site,
we got the canvas/flymesh annexe.
the awning is almost permanantly attached to the tent and can be folded up with it very easily.
i looked closely at the picture of the full annexe and it seems to be a one piece unit.(if not excuse me). this would make erecting this a bit of a chore when on the move. our canvas section is erected quite often for a windbreak/shade/rainy days.
our flymesh section is very rarely used.

We hired a Cavalier and went round Goldfields and across to Monkey Mia. We had two adults and three kids. I think it was the standard 9 ft job. It was great. No problems to tour. Very easy to put up and pack away.

The only thing I didn't like was the soft top. Kids bikes etc etc etc couldn't be taken. I'd get a hardtop if I was buying (Campomatic).

But that said it's probably one of the better soft tops.
