Can't help myslef, two posts in one week must be a record for me.
I could not find any threads on oil . I have a diesel 80 series and have let the mechanics play with it till now. Most of the time they wash it and chargeme for all the things they don't do. Have found a good mechanic but her is expensive. My plan let him do major items and I will do the rest.
Can anyone tell me of their experiences with oil and recommendations. Eg Penrite etc.

I've used Penrite for the last couple of oil changes. In the Jackaroo V6, I will use HPR5 during the cold months and HPR10 during the warmer months. The key of course is to be just about religious with the frequency of your oil and filter changes and use good quality brand name products.
Check out the various manufacturers websites (eg Penrite, Castrol,
Mobil, etc) and get their recommendations for your vehicle.
