4runner, 3VZ-E or 3L engine?

Hey,
Just wondering what the difference between these two engines the 3VZ-E and 3L engines in 4runners are?Is one better than the other?
Any info is good.

The 3L is the Toyota 2.8L Diesel. A very reliable hard working SLUG. Slow as a wet week.... But reliable.
The 3VZ-E sounds like a Tojo petrol model number, can only assume it's the 3.0L V6 if it's from a 4 runner model that has the 3L. If so, not a bad motor, earlier 90's engines were recalled for a head/gasket problem. Later ones were good.
I'm sure someone else can confirm the 3VZ-E motor's specs.

Definetly 4 runner v6 and an absolute SOB of a thing to work on. Big labour costs and expensive for parts and repairs.
