Reversing sensors

I've been thinking of fitting a reversing sensor to the rear of the Challenger; the type which beeps when you get close to objects.
The VDO unit looks good even though it has only two sensors. Dearer than others at $150, but I assume that VDO is better quality than the other units I have seen so far.
Has any one had experience with these units generally or VDO in particular?
Thanks in anticipation,

No Truckster, not as a rule, but as Mungo points out it is the things which hide low down below your field of vision which cause the problem.
Increasing age stiff neck and back don't help either.

I've had one in a previous 2WD car which was difficult to park in tight spaces and I found it really useful in the city. Still thinking about getting one for the fourby but actually find it easier to park because you know there's not much except the spare wheel beyond the rear window. OTOH, the low-down vision behind is poor, so I might still go for it. Even at $150, it seems good insurance against low obstacles when reversing.
