camp grounds with dogs

there is an excellent book available called Travelling with Dogs by Life Be In It, that lists caravan parks that will take dogs, not sure if it also lists campgrounds. Hope this helps.

We don't want to camp at Caravan Parks, we usually do the camp grounds and have some trouble finding ones which allow dogs in Qld. We have the books you mentioned but they are mainly geared for Caravan Parks......
Any ideas for bush camping sites would be welcome......we adore the bush as well as the ocean.

Anywhere withing 2-3 hours from Bris for our short weekend trips, but for the 2 week trips anywhere we can reach in this time period and not be travelling for the whole time.

Have a look in the ExplorOz Adventure Shop under the Camping Guide books. There are several there that may be able to help you, but the one that I would recomend (as someone above has also) is the Bush Camping with Dogs book.

stradys ( north stradebroke island ) a very goodplace for dogs but not so good at christmas or easter - way too busy unless you get there couple days before the big rush to get a good spot and dont mind tent ropes tied to your bull bar by your stranger type neighbours when they arrive later

any place that is classified as a state forest in qld (where you can camp) is ok for dogs - and flinders beach on strady is a state forest / water reserve and possibly bribie beach is also worth a check as well

soon as an area becomes a national park - then no dogs

incidently where is clancy's and johns landing is that on lake cootharaba above tewantin ? also where at agnes waters can you camp with dogs - we only found the national parks areas i.e deep water etc which were to tell the truth very disappointing bush camping areas- and no dogs allowed as national parks

in fact we thought the national park camping areas grudging provided by national parks at agnes waters and 1770 were a pretty bl**dy ordinary - well back from the beach and not worth staying in except overnight - strady, moreton and even busy fraser are just so much nicer for a week or so but of course no dogs except at strady

Thanks for the info re: straddie. We love moreton, etc too but alas no dogs. Clancy's is part of the Qld Epa grounds on the net. It is very close to the Blackall Ranges (no beach) very cleared camping ground, but has some great forest to walk in. Creek was dry when we went 6 months ago.....as you said quite ordinary but something different.....Johns landing is a privately owned working farm but it is on the Noosa River at Tewantin......great camping spots, small or large groups welcome.....dogs, trail bikes (great old quarry), boats etc all welcome.....$10.00 per car per night......hot showers - $0.20 for 3min, drop toilets etc, clean but old...2 and 4wd access....small kiosk has basics, sells firewood etc, only 10 min back to Tewantin shops....they also hire the water bikes and canoes quite cheap rental for kids and big kids alike...gets very packed xmas, easter and aust day...if you call them they will gladly send you a brochure......547-1806 - they also have ice, petrol and gas refills. We like it as it is not as "polished" as some....Agnes Waters we stay at "Workmans Beach" camping area $4.00 p/n p/p - still have to walk down the hill to the beach but no other can get to that beach except through the camp grounds.......found another site that looks good in the "dirty weekends" book, Neurum Creek Bush Resort, website is www.ncbr.com.au we will be trying this one out sometime in the future. Also this book has quite few good spots that allow dogs in Nth NSW and Qld.....again thanks for the info....merry xmas and happy camping......
