Hi Everyone,
My son has a Nissan Terrano and last night when he got home I heard a bubbling noise coming from his cooling system.
On closer inspection hot, boiling
water was flowing back into his plastic reservoir
tank under pressure.
His temp gauge wasn't registering that the engine was running hot but I suspect it was.
I will probably end up getting it to a radiator place but just wanted any advice you guys might have on this type problem.
Terranos are notorious for running a bit hot and my sons car is fitted with an additional thermo fan to help with this problem.
Cheers
Brian

The bubbling may be a compression leak rather than boiling, so the temp gauge wouldn't show it to be hot. Needs to be checked out ASAP before you lose all the coolant and
cook the motor.
Might be something else that I haven't thought of, too. Hopefully cheaper to fix!!
Good luck
John

Run the engine to oprating temp with the cap off and check that the thermostat opens up as this can also do this.

I had a similar problem with my last 4by, and it turned out to be a leaky head gasket. It was constantly pressurising the coolant reservoir
tank, and although it was loosing about a litre a day, it wasn't running hot.
luckily it was a petrol, because I was also loosing some coolant into the cylinder, but if yours is a diesel and you have a similar problem, the result could be major.
Good Luck

Thanks for the info everyone.
I will have a look at it tomorrow and probably get it off to the radiator
shop.
Cheers
