Hi all,
I know this has probably been done to death a little but I've had problems with my cable pull cruise since day one with it hunting when you 'set' the cruise, sitting on speeds 5kph higher than set, cutting out, bla bla bla, and the dealer is going to now replace my cruise. They are going to install a fly by wire one but it's not an Autron! Is there another brand out there that is? I thought Autron were the only ones.

Hi Leroy,
The only fly-by-wire that I know of is the Autron Auscruise. Maybe it a "rebadged" Autron, but apart from that have no idea what it may be.
Cheers

I believe from other forums (possibly here???) that Nissan are now recommending the cruise control be removed as the cable can jam with the throttle wide open (symptoms similar to what you are preently experiencing). This is now a recall item, I wouldn't use it at all until it is replaced.

Leroy,
Autron WERE the only ones. It doesn't take long for someone to bring out another product to the market.
I don't remember the name of the alternative product because I have the Autron unit, but I remembered them being around the same price. (If they were cheaper I would have remembered their name - for sure!!).
The difference that I could see from their promotional material is that their steering wheel buttons, still located in the same position as the Autron, were three round buttons for all control functions, and possibly looked better than the Autron controls.
I wouldn't panic too much, you're probably getting a good unit - just ask for a data sheet to check, before accepting the changeover.

Leroy,
This other one may be a "Command"(?) cruise control. Have these fitted to 2 tojo 79 series utes. One is "fly-by-wire"(on a factory turbo), and the other cable.
Both have work flawlessly for nearly 2 years, though the cable one doesn't get the use of the FBW one.
A good point with them is they will remember the setting, even after stopping, or being switched off over night. The ones we use are fitted with a stalk to lhs of steering column.
Hooroo...
