My Dad has a 95 or 96 Pakero, Diesel and has asked me about some replacemant tyres. There are Goodyear Wranglers on it at the moment and they are worn out.
The majority of the time is spent on the road but he may several times each week drive on soft sand (
stockton beach).
A tyre that will last for a good few km and is
well priced is what he wants. Nothing too agressive.
I believe the size he is after is 265/70/r15.
Any suggestions??

Hi Brett,
Ask your dad if he would be prepared to go for 31 inch tyres, 265/70/15's are about 30 inch.... With 31 inch tyres you have a much bigger range and because its a very popular size, tyres are generally cheaper. Some good affordable 31's are Simex AT300's only cost about $150 have a good wet road tread pattern. Also Wrangler HT's nice deep road tread, Yokomama G011 AT+11's really look the business as a nice allround road/semi-offroad tyre. Both the last 2 are a bit dearer but still really good value (at least in 31 inch that is).Another side benefit of going a bit bigger is that his car will be better on sand too. But you probably know all of this stuff anyway.
Heaps of Pajeros run 31 inch tyres.

Thanks RB . I have only ever been concerned with tyres for troopcarriers for the last 15 years so these metric tyres are gobbledegook to me. I will tell him to get some prices and info on the tyres you mentioned. I didn't consider the 31 inch tryes..thanks for the awareness lesson too.
Cheers
Brett
